BIO:
Markis was born and raised in rural Colorado. He graduated from Pritchett High School in 1988 and went to college at the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver, Colorado. He moved to Hawaii in 1996.
Although he was saved in 1988 at a youth camp in Kenton, Oklahoma, Markis spent a lot of his life running away from his problems while using drugs and alcohol. In February of 2002, he finally woke up and realized that God was the answer to the problems that he had been running from.
Markis started attending Hope Chapel Kaneohe Bay in Kaneohe, Hawaii, and soon began voluteering there on a regular basis. In October 2004, Markis was hired as the Operations Assistant and soon began working as the IT Manager. During this time, he continued to grow and mature in the Lord under the discipleship of Senior Pastor Ralph Moore and staff.
In March of 2005, Markis signed up for eHarmony and soon met Ginger Simmons from Houston, Texas. The two began to grow closer together and were married on July 22, 2006.
In March 2008, Markis recieved a message from the Lord that they were to go to Houston to plant a church and bring God's love to a community in need.
The couple have now moved to Houston.
PURPOSE:
We believe that our part in God's plan is to move to Texas and touch the lives inthe community in Houston that we will be living in.
We will be starting a church called Hope Chapel Christian Fellowship. The purpose of this church is "to bring God's hope, love and grace to the community through meaningful relationships, and to equip each other to take His love to the world."
This church will be started as we move into a community and begin loving the people there. Out of the friendships that we develop, we believe that several MiniChurches will grow. We hope that through these minichurches, the core team of our church will form. We look forward to developing as a church family.
